Posted by on 4:13 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on Where does Steam store your Screenshots?

There’s a helpful that displays your screenshots under View – Screenshots. This will open the Screenshots Manager. You can find this when you’re not in Big Picture mode. From here you can upload your work to Steam, set its visibility and give it a caption. You can also filter by game in the drop-down that says “most recent”. There are two interesting options to note here: the folder icon will give you the location on disk to this screenshot the gear icon takes you to Screenshot Settings in Preferences The latter...

Fixed: macOS can’t send images in Messages

Posted by on 4:01 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on Fixed: macOS can’t send images in Messages

I had an issue on my Mac Mini (with macOS 10.15 Catalina) in that it didn’t want to send images in the Messages app anymore. Texts could through fine, but every time I added an image, it tried to send it for several minutes and always aborted with a “can’t deliver” error. Subsequent attempts to re-send also failed. This happened just around the time when Apple switched off Photostream, but thankfully this was not related. The solution was to delete the Messages database and start with a clean slate. Here’s how I...

Fixed: macOS Remote Login hangs on “starting”

Posted by on 8:52 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on Fixed: macOS Remote Login hangs on “starting”

Had a weird issue on my MacMini, with macOS 10.15.7 Catalina. I wanted to enable remote login on the machine, which I know for a fact was once working. Today however, all I got was this: After enabling it for one or multiple users, the SSH service appears to try to start, but never gets going so remote logins aren’t possible. Turns out this “feature” has been introduced after the latest security patches from what I understand, and it being a legacy OS, it’ll likely never see a fix. Thankfully there is a temporary fix...

How to summon an open app onto the current monitor in Windows

Posted by on 1:40 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on How to summon an open app onto the current monitor in Windows

When I’m in my streaming studio, I don’t see my second monitor. Apps tend to remember where they last opened, so I’m faced with the problem that some content appears on the second monitor, but I can’t easily drag it over to my main monitor. I was wondering if there was a way to bring it over with a keyboard shortcut, and alas there is: by way of pressing Windows + Cursor Keys. Here’s how it works: summon the task bar and click the app/window in question (this brings it into focus) now press Windows/Start +...

FIXED: AirPods constantly cutting out on macOS

Posted by on 8:06 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on FIXED: AirPods constantly cutting out on macOS

All my pairs of AirPods, including the 2nd generation Pro’s have the annoying habit of cutting out every now and again when connected to my old Mac Mini from 2012. Granted it’s an old device, it can only run macOS but it does support 10.15 Catalina, but it has Bluetooth 4 and has proven that it can connect stable for weeks. When that inevitable point of drop outs, interruptions and disconnects happens, there’s a built-in fix: resetting the Bluetooth Module on the Mac. Here’s how to do it, no restart is required: Hold...

How to use AirPods with an Apple TV on a different account

Posted by on 10:14 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on How to use AirPods with an Apple TV on a different account

Both my wife and I have a pair of super snazzy AirPods Pro (2nd generation). It’s a marvel of modern engineering. We both have independent iCloud accounts, and although we’re family sharing things, only my AirPods appear in my Apple TV’s settings. I wondered if there was away for her to watch TV with the AirPods while I do some work, and here’s how we made it happen: open the charging case, with the AirPods inside them hold the button on the back of the box until the connection light comes on (2-3 seconds) on Apple TV,...

How to use an Xbox 360 Wireless McBazel receiver on Windows 10/11

Posted by on 11:25 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on How to use an Xbox 360 Wireless McBazel receiver on Windows 10/11

My original Microsoft wireless Xbox 360 receiver for Windows packed up, after over 15 years of loyal service. Perhaps I shouldn’t have let him be plugged in 24/7 on a powered hub, or perhaps his number was up. These dongles are no longer in production, but several third party devices are available. I’ve decided to buy a McBazel device for $30 from Amazon in the hopes that it would breathe more life into my two Xbox 360 controllers. I had hoped it was a plug-in replacement for the old device, but sadly Windows didn’t...

How to remove game updates from your Steam feed

Posted by on 3:38 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on How to remove game updates from your Steam feed

Ever get tired of over-zealous game devs pushing new entries onto your Steam feed? Me too! I cannot adequately describe how little I care about that Air Strip DLC in Gas Station Simtulator. While there is no way to remove a particular game from the feed, you can tell the Steam client that you want to see less updates from a particular title. To do this, right-click on an update and choose “show less”. You may have to do this multiple times for developers who post very frequently, but eventually the Steam client will learn your...

How to disable those annoying Google Sign-In prompts on every website

Posted by on 5:19 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on How to disable those annoying Google Sign-In prompts on every website

I cannot adequately describe just how annoying I find these constant prompts to “Sign in with Google”. I appreciate the offer 40 times a day, but I genuinely don’t and probably never will use Google to sign in anywhere, no matter how practical and easy they want to make it. I was wondering if there’s a way to disable this feature, and thankfully Lifehacker had the answer: sign in to Google navigate to myaccount.google.com/security scroll down to a section called Signing in to other sites disable the switch on the next...

How to disable Windows ink on Windows 11

Posted by on 11:23 pm in Knowledge Base | Comments Off on How to disable Windows ink on Windows 11

My old legacy Wacom driver gave me some compatibility issues under Windows 11. However, no matter how hard I’ve searched, I was not able to find the Windows Ink setting. When disabled, this would clear up any such issues in Windows 10. Thankfully there is a way to disable this in Windows 11 too, but we need to use the Logical Group Editor. Here’s how to do that: press Windows + R type “gpedit.msc” (without the “quotation marks” though) swing over to Administrative Templates – Windows Components...
