So you’ve written an Ebook and would like to sell it via your website. That’s a great idea!
How to do this you ask? You’re not alone – selling private Ebooks is something many people do so there are very good tools that do the job for you, and integrate nicely into your WordPress site. The process works as follows:
- customer pays for your Ebook
- your shopping cart software acknowledges this and provides a secure link that’s only valid for a set period of time
- customer downloads the Ebook and enjoys it
- download link expires so that customer can’t give it out to hundreds of people
All these things are indeed possible with an eCommerce plugin like WP eStore. It’s one of the most secure selling plugins for WordPress. With an upgrade it even allows you to stamp your Ebook with your customer’s details so you can be sure to sell unique copies of your content.
There’s also a free plugin available called GetShopped but it’s not as good as the aforementioned eStore, but both plugins let you sell products with attached digital files upon checkout.
They’re a bit tricky to setup, but especially the first one has great support and many opportunities for future expansion (such as Affiliate Schemes and Membership Areas).
