You can add surveys to the free version of WordPress by navigating to Polls from the sidebar. You’ll have to sign up for a free PollDaddy.com account to use them, and you can also use the PollDaddy plugin for self-hosted WordPress sites. On the self-hosted version of WordPress you can install the Polldaddy Polls and Ratings plugin and do the same thing. Adding a Tag Cloud does depend a bit on how the theme formats it, but essentially it’s a Widget (called Tag Cloud) that you drag into your sidebar. Be advised NOT to purchase any of the “premium” features (such as Gold Cart, Members Module, Affiliate Module etc). The developers support is dreadful and often things just don’t work. It’s a constant beta version IMO. You’re much...
read moreWhich Forum software should I use?
Forums are very complex pieces of software – beware. But there are a couple of solutions that will work well with WordPress. One is called bbPress and you can install it as a plugin (search for bbPress under Plugins – Add New). It’s made by a similar community as WordPress. Another one I can suggest is called SimplePress (http://simple-press.com/) but it’s uglier and not as easy to setup. I’ve never quite warmed to it. My favourite one at the moment is Tal.ki – it’s the easiest and most lightweight...
